” Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them”

about

My name is Rachael Fraser, I grew up in a town in the North East of England called Alnwick. Having grown up in Northumberland I have a great appreciation of the countryside and nature which I think often comes out in my photography. I am a great animal lover, especially dogs,  I have a gorgeous husky who often stars in my personal photographs; he may look like a wolf but he is a big softie!

From a young age I have always enjoyed taking photographs of family and friends and rarely went anywhere without my small film camera. I was given my first digital camera, a Canon 1100d that lasted me a good few years, as a christmas present when I was 18 and have since been obsessed with capturing life in images.

I studied Costume Design at Edinburgh college of Art which was a wonderful experience, living in a beautiful city and meeting some of my closest friends,  but I found that my favourite part of the process was often photographing the final costume at the end of a project and so, after 5 years in the costume world, I was brought back to my camera. I went on to study photography at Newcastle and decided to start photographing professionally.

My favourite subject has always been people, so Wedding and Portrait photography seemed a natural place to start, I love capturing people when they are unaware and showing the uninhibited emotions and natural beauty  in documentary style photography; it’s not just about the image but also the memory and the story that it tells. With a focus on real emotions and connections I try to highlight the laughter, joy and love that are felt throughout your wedding day or portrait session.
